Mobile, Ala. (Nov. 28, 2016) – The Dollar General and Monroe Sausage concluded the 11th art competition and have selected the cover of the 2016 Dollar General Bowl game day program.
This year’s theme was “Wildlife and Waterways of the Bay Area”, and the contest received over 200 entries. The contestants were grouped by grade level into the following categories: 6th – 8th, 9th – 10th, and 11th – 12th. The finalists were selected by judges from Eastern Shore Art Center and the Mobile Museum of Art. This year’s winners are:
6th – 8th Grade:
1st Place – Catherine Chung – Dunbar Magnet
2nd Place – Alexis Dira – Causey Middle
3rd Place – Kassidy Cayton – Causey Middle
9th – 10th Grade
1st Place – Ashley Suchan – Bayside Academy
2nd Place – Jeremy Bankston – Theodore High
3rd Place – Briana Harvey – Foley High
11th – 12th Grade
1st Place – Caroline Myers – St. Paul’s
2nd Place – Valerie Partsch – Theodore High
3rd Place – Sara Posey – St. Paul’s
Since 2007, winning artwork has been chosen for the front cover of the Dollar General Program, and all winners will be featured in the 2016 program. Since the contest’s inception, the Dollar General Bowl has awarded over $18,500 to local schools art programs. Sarah Posey’s artwork will be featured as this year’s Dollar General Bowl game day program cover.
